Important update for all nextbike users in Lower Austria

From February 27, 2026 onwards, you will need a Lower Austria account in the nextbike app to rent a bike in St. Pölten or other municipalities in Lower Austria. With a WienMobil Rad account, you will no longer be able to rent a bike in Lower Austria as of February 27, 2026.

It is possible to use two accounts simultaneously in the nextbike app — for example, one for Vienna (WienMobil Rad) and one for Lower Austria. Both accounts can be created using the same phone number and address. However, different E-Mail addresses are required. By switching between accounts in the app, users can rent bikes in both regions. This is especially important for commuters.

FAQs about the technical changes at nextbike Lower Austria

No. Everything will remain the same for you. You can continue using bikes in Lower Austria as usual with your existing account.

However, if you would like to use a WienMobil Rad bike in Vienna in the future, you will need a separate WienMobil Rad account. You can easily create this in the nextbike app.

If you have previously been using your WienMobil Rad account in the nextbike app to ride in St. Pölten or other towns and municipalities in Lower Austria, please note:

From February 27, 2026 onwards, using bikes in Lower Austria will only be possible with an active nextbike Lower Austria account in the app. Without this second account, you will not be able to start your ride in Lower Austria.

You can add the nextbike Lower Austria account directly in the nextbike app or via our website nextbike-noe.at.

Conversely, to use WienMobil Rad bikes in Vienna, you will need a WienMobil Rad account in the nextbike app. This can also be added easily within the app.

Both accounts can be set up using the same email address, phone number and postal address. By switching between accounts in the app, users can rent bikes in both regions. This is particularly important for commuters.

The twin stations will remain in place as before. These stations continue to be your ideal hop on and hop off locations when switching between Vienna and Lower Austria.

You can end your ride using your WienMobil Rad account and select your nextbike Lower Austria account in the app to continue your journey, and vice versa.

Until now, nextbike users from other nextbike regions, such as WienMobil Rad, could use the nextbike offer in Lower Austria with their respective accounts.

This option will no longer be available as of February 27, 2026. In the future, users will need their own nextbike Lower Austria account to rent a bike in Lower Austria.

You can create this account at any time at nextbike-noe.at or directly in the nextbike app.
